Summer is here! With the changing season and “The Boys of Summer” tune running through our minds, we couldn’t help but think about guys who are making waves on Pinterest. According to a social media report by Nielsen, the gender gap on Pinterest appears to be slowly closing. Up to 30% of Pinterest users are men and there’s a lot more guy-oriented content on the site including sports, cars and tattoos. Notably, the NHL has more than 1.3M followers!

We’re fortunate enough to work with more than 250 of the most followed people on Pinterest, so we decided to spotlight a few guys we think you’d be interested in checking out. We’ll start with Paul Samples, Luke Dean Weymark and Josh Draper because they’re great examples of how men can use Pinterest both personally and professionally.

Tim Sullentrup1 HelloInterview: Meet Tim Sullentrup Design Problem Solver, Family Man and Pinterest InfluencerTim Sullentrup is a graphic designer and illustrator who spends his days solving visual problems for his clients in Kansas City, Missouri. He has a passion for building brands from start to finish and no matter what the job is, Tim will find a creative design solution. Tim’s passion for researching design and illustration inspiration to enhance his branding expertise has helped him acquire more than  335,000 followers on Pinterest.

How did you get started as a graphic designer and what made you decide that was the career path you wanted to pursue?

I grew up with a natural love for drawing and spent most of my free time sketching. I started designing t-shirts, logos and other marketing collateral for local businesses when I realized I might actually be able to pursue it as a career. I went to the University of Central Missouri where I also worked in the internal marketing department.

I was simultaneously getting the academic knowledge and the practical work experience I needed to really polish my skills as a graphic designer. After earning my BFA in Graphic Design, I started my career working with a small advertising agency, which eventually lead to me founding my own studio called Sullentrup Design.
