HS Friendsgiving Title
Are you throwing a Friendsgiving this year? Are you familiar with what a Friendsgiving is? Well, it’s pretty self explanatory. It’s a get together between friends celebrating Thanksgiving together, either on Thanksgiving or a little before. Typically it’s a potluck where each friend attending brings a dish or two and a bottle of wine or another beverage. This is usually accompanied with games, DIYs, festive decor, and the realization that you are truly thankful for your amazing best friends.

The following guide shares steps on making your Friendsgiving this year one to remember, all thanks to inspiration from Pinterest.

Know your goal.

– Better awareness?
– More sales?
– Higher following?
– Increased engagement?

You can’t have it all, so select one or two of your top goals. Keep in mind that typically awareness leads to engagement, which leads to followers, which leads to sales. It’s a natural process that needs to be carefully crafted to work. So if your awareness and engagement is low at the moment, those need to be addressed first and a higher following and more sales will naturally follow!

Come up with a theme.

– Choose a color theme for your board covers.
– Consider making a unique hashtag for your holiday board. (Only 1 – don’t overdo it.)
– Balance promotional pins amongst inspirational pins.
– Paint the picture for the story. Warm cottage while it’s snowing? Fall field picnic? Family dinner with games and a hot fireplace?

Pin AND Promote.

– Do it in a way that’s catered to your goal.
Awareness: Optimize your website for pinning and promote existing boards and pins on email, social, in store, and online.
Sales: consider pinning a deal or prerelease promotion to get some buzz.
Following: Consider making a holiday contest with very easy instructions..
Engagement: Optimize your boards and pins for better SEO and likelihood of going viral.

Reach a larger audience.

– Organically: By pushing out links to other social followers, going viral with the right SEO terms and optimization, or planning a creative campaign that will reach a bigger audience if presented well enough.
Inorganically: Work with HelloSociety influencers who on average have a following of 1.8 million followers. You can also promote your pins.

Support your holiday efforts.

– Socially: Post on Twitter 4-10 times/week and Facebook 1-3 times/week linking to the board and various pins.
Email: Share a widget to your holiday board on all emails and ask for a follow.
In Store: Share ‘Pinterest popular’ items with tags and special signs mentioning the holiday board and promotion.
– Online (website): Post a link to your holiday Pinterest board on your website. Make sure your website has a hover pin it button and that descriptions auto-populate.
