When did you start using Pinterest and what inspired you to make an account?

I was one of the first pioneers on Pinterest. I remember when there were so few pins that scrolling wasn’t even possible because there weren’t enough pins to fill the page. I initially thought Pinterest was a fad that wouldn’t stick and look at it now!

Why do you like Pinterest?

I’m a visual person. I get lost in long text so viewing ideas are perfect for my brain. Pinterest ignites creativity and pools the best of the brains from around the world.

You have gained over 135k Pinterest followers! That’s so cool! What makes your Pinterest unique?

I think a lot of people pin what they think people will like. I just pin what I truly want to make and what makes me drool. (more…)

As visual platforms like Pinterest, Instagram, and Tumblr are proven as more and more influential to sales, the product images these brands are taking are getting better catered to each platform. But the number of big brands that have generic, small, overly-promotional images is still very high. By taking the time to change up how your business’ products are photographed and presented, the perception of product quality can be improved with a few simple changes. So what can brands do to improve their content to perform better on social media? What social media accounts are great examples of beautiful imagery on Pinterest, Instagram, and Tumblr?

For Pinterest

When a company has hundreds to thousands of products to photograph, styling each one in a unique setting usually isn’t realistic. By simply changing the color of the background from plain white to off white or another color, the products will instantly stand out on Pinterest. Brands need to make sure their product photos are taken vertically, or edited to be presented vertically – it will be hugely impactful for Pinterest performance.

See Cos as a good example. Their products are shot against an off-white background. Just the small difference of adding a unique color behind their products makes them stand out more on Pinterest. Their photos are also all vertical and have nice proportions of product size to background space. (more…)

Remember it is always, “a lovely day for a Guinness!”  This Guinness tagline holds especially true on St. Patrick’s Day.  Ireland is known for their rich Guinness stout, so add a dash of stout to any recipe you make on March 17th.  If you’re not up for making a traditional Irish recipe, the least you can do is incorporate a little taste of Ireland in a meal or beverage on St. Patrick’s Day.  Proudly brewed for over 200 years, Guinness is a huge part of Irish culture.   Adding green food dye to your breakfast will not make you any more Irish, but if you add a drop of Guinness you may have the luck of the Irish on your side.  Try one of these Top 5 Guinness-infused recipes for a lucky St. Patrick’s Day.

Share your day’s adventures with just one photo that speaks volumes. The social media platform Instagram is similar to Pinterest in that it’s a visual platform – but the cool thing about it is that it’s built to just post your own content, and is so easy to use. Instagram is widely used by several companies and bloggers and it’s well-targeted to millennials, which appeals to a lot of brands. A great way to reach your existing fans, potential new fans, and friends is with Instagram. So what makes an Instagram photo stand out? What apps are great for improving photos? Which Instagrammers should you be following for inspiration? The following guide shares examples and tips for becoming a master at Instagram content creation.

Rule #1: Know Your Style

Some of the best Instagram accounts have an obvious overall theme to their styles of photos and the kinds of content they share. This comes down to brightness, saturation, style of shots, shadowing and content. Do you love sharing color, like influencer Will Taylor of Bright.Bazaar? Choose a style theme and try to stick to it. If your tastes change, be true to that – just don’t flip flop or combine styles too much. (more…)

Meet HelloSociety Pinterest Influencer Whitney Taylor from West Fargo, North Dakota! She’s a mom of three and is passionate about painting. Whitney met her husband 10 years ago in college, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in studio arts with an emphasis in painting. The two have lived in Utah, Colorado, and now North Dakota together. “We will eventually move again and again, because we like living in new places and meeting new people. We love not knowing where we will be next or what will take us there.”

When Whitney isn’t on Pinterest, she can be found raising her three kids, painting, or painting with her kids. Last year my five year old and I started doing a collaborative series of paintings together. Children have such a natural intuition with art that I find very inspiring.” Whitney also loves being outdoors, when the weather allows. Her passion for family, art, photography, design and decor has earned her over 355k Pinterest followers!

When did you start using Pinterest and what inspired you to make an account?

I was the first of my family and friends to have a Pinterest account, back when it was a new thing. I mainly started so I could bookmark art that I found inspirational.

Why do you like Pinterest?
