When did you start using Pinterest and what inspired you to make an account?

I began pretty early on. I remember having to ask for an invite and waiting weeks for it. I was so excited to begin using the platform because I loved that I could store all the things that inspired me in one place. A friend told me I would love it and the moment I saw how it worked I was sold. Since then it has been a complete love affair. (more…)

Anyone can take a photograph and upload it to Pinterest. A content creator knows how to style a shoot for Pinterest, what lighting works best, and tricks like adding text and stacking images to make those ‘wow’ pins that grab a viewer’s attention while they are quickly scanning their feed. The following guide shares tricks to becoming a master at content creation for Pinterest in no time!

Getting the Lighting Right

Tricks To Getting Good Lighting With and Without Natural Light:

With light

– If direct sunlight is coming through the window, cover the window with a light white sheet or shower curtain so the sun’s light isn’t as harsh and looks more soft.
– If the sun isn’t coming in through the window your direction, photograph it in the shade and brighten as necessary.
– Take shots from different angles, shooting against the sun and with the sun.

Without light

– Have a light box or reflector? See some amazing tips from Pinch of Yum here.
– Don’t have a reflector? Learn how to make your own DIY Photo Light Box from Flax & Twine here.

When did you start using Pinterest and what inspired you to make an account?

It all began in 2010, when it was still necessary to get an invitation to have access to Pinterest. I gathered a lot of information about decoration, kids’ design, links to interesting blogs, etc… and Pinterest was the perfect tool to catalog my inspirations. I am a curious person and I have always enjoyed learning, being immersed in the news & trends, and jumping from subject to subject and link through link, so Pinterest was a big discovery! It not only allows me to organize and keep all this information, but it was the perfect place to find unlimited ideas and to get great inspiration – all while having a great time. It’s fun! Joining Pinterest also gave me the opportunity to discover great artist creations and interesting designers, and to be in contact with people from all over the world, or even with people from my own city/country, whom I did not know before. There is no distance or borders with Pinterest! (more…)

When did you start using Pinterest and what inspired you to make an account?

I started using Pinterest in the very early days – when it was still in beta. I’m a bit of a hoarder in all aspects of my life. The ability to make my vast and unorganized list of bookmarks more visual had me hooked immediately! I’m such a visual person, browsing images instead of links is much easier.

Why do you like Pinterest?

Though I love to read, I really do understand things visually first. As a designer/artist, it’s the best way for me to search for new ideas, inspiration, shopping, style. So Pinterest suits my process perfectly. I go to Pinterest before I go to Google! It’s also become a great tool to show clients what I’m capable of, and what my style looks like.

You have gained over 349k Pinterest followers! That’s truly amazing! What makes your Pinterest unique? (more…)

When did you start using Pinterest and what inspired you to make an account?

I think it was in 2011 when you still needed to get invited to join. I am a visual person, I come from a design background and I always struggled to keep my inspiration material clearly and well organised… Pinterest was the perfect solution!

Why do you like Pinterest?

It’s a seemingly infinite well of visual inspiration where I can be both surprised and also easily find and access specifically what I am looking for.

You have gained over 2.7M Pinterest followers! That is so awesome! What makes your Pinterest unique?

I know, right! I am still amazed by the size of my following… I can only assume that it’s my own unique blend and sense of aesthetics that makes my Pinterest what it is. It comes from the heart, I don’t think about it much. (more…)
