When did you start using Pinterest and what inspired you to make an account?

A friend told me about Pinterest when it first launched, and I thought it sounded kind of strange and confusing… but it only took me about ten minutes of actually trying it before I was hooked! I used to fill up my hard drive with saved photos and quotes from blogs and Tumblr pre-Pinterest and now I just save everything I like to Pinterest! It’s made for a much faster computer and a much happier user.

Why do you like Pinterest?

I could scour Pinterest for hours. I love it. And it’s usually the first place I go when I hit any sort of creative block and it never fails in getting those creative juices flowing again!

You have gained over 2.7 million Pinterest followers! That’s so amazing! What makes your Pinterest unique? (more…)

Partnering with a talented creator to develop and share their take on your product with a sponsored post and by creating styled images through photoshoots of newly-created recipes, stylish outfits, room makeovers, or beauty looks is one of the most powerful ways your brand can build a presence on social media.

How is content creation different from UGC (User-Generated Content)? UGC is when someone shares a photo or video showing or commenting on your product. UGC is one of the most-valuable assets a brand can have online. It doesn’t cost anything, but you have no control over what’s being shared and it can be difficult to get rolling. It takes some effort on your part to promote UGC, like by having hashtags printed on material in-store during a special seasonal sale for example or having your brand’s handle and hashtag automatically generate in the descriptions from your website’s social share buttons.

Once you’ve set the foundation for easy UGC, call upon top bloggers and style icons in your brand category to create content and share it with blog and/or social posts. It publicly shows their support for your product and will spread brand awareness, improve brand opinions, increase engagement, and promote sales. It is important to work with creators/bloggers that share a similar aesthetic as your brand and fit your target consumer’s look. Content creation by bloggers or icons and UGC are especially valuable to brands that don’t have any content, have little content, or that have a lot of generic-looking product photos with white backgrounds. Here in Spain, in 2009, Facebook and Twitter were very popular, but I did not really get into those social networks. When I discovered Pinterest I quickly knew that it was my site. Share your day’s adventures with just one photo that speaks volumes. The social media platform Instagram is similar to Pinterest in that it’s a visual platform – but the cool thing about it is that it’s built to just post your own content, and is so easy to use. Instagram is widely used by several companies and bloggers and it’s well-targeted to millennials, which appeals to a lot of brands. A great way to reach your existing fans, potential new fans, and friends is with Instagram. So what makes an Instagram photo stand out? What apps are great for improving photos? Which Instagrammers should you be following for inspiration? The following guide shares examples and tips for becoming a master at Instagram content creation.

Rule #1: Know Your Style

Some of the best Instagram accounts have an obvious overall theme to their styles of photos and the kinds of content they share. This comes down to brightness, saturation, style of shots, shadowing and content. Do you love sharing color, like influencer Will Taylor of Bright.Bazaar? Choose a style theme and try to stick to it. If your tastes change, be true to that – just don’t flip flop or combine styles too much. (more…)

Anyone can take a photograph and upload it to Pinterest. A content creator knows how to style a shoot for Pinterest, what lighting works best, and tricks like adding text and stacking images to make those ‘wow’ pins that grab a viewer’s attention while they are quickly scanning their feed. The following guide shares tricks to becoming a master at content creation for Pinterest in no time!

Getting the Lighting Right

Tricks To Getting Good Lighting With and Without Natural Light:

With light

– If direct sunlight is coming through the window, cover the window with a light white sheet or shower curtain so the sun’s light isn’t as harsh and looks more soft.
– If the sun isn’t coming in through the window your direction, photograph it in the shade and brighten as necessary.
– Take shots from different angles, shooting against the sun and with the sun.

Without light

– Have a light box or reflector? See some amazing tips from Pinch of Yum here.
– Don’t have a reflector? Learn how to make your own DIY Photo Light Box from Flax & Twine here.
